Guest reviews for Canton Place Apartment, Bath.

A perfect nest
Star rating 5/5 Guest from New Hampshire, USA Date of stay March 2012

We stayed at Canton Place for two nights and found everything truly perfect. It was very cold and rainy/sleety for walking everywhere to see Bath, so my friend and I were very glad to get back to the nest to get fed and warm again!

Lovely place to stay
Star rating 5/5 Guest from London/Sussex Date of stay November 2011

I stayed with my mum in the Canton place apartment in November 2011 for the Christmas market. It was a great place to stay. Very comfy apartment with plenty of room and given it was on main road it was very quiet although of course the hum of traffic could be heard somewhat but this did not unduly disturb us - even in the front bedroom.

Being so close to town was such a bonus - it was lovely to just walk in to and out of town easily - it took us about 10 minutes even with sore feet! There were also buses if we needed them and there are some fun shops along the way.

The kitchen is very well appointed with all that we thought we would need. We didn?t do much cooking as we were giving ourselves a holiday but we could have done if we wanted. The dining area gave lovely views over parts of Bath and you can just about see the river! The sitting room was very comfy with good local information.

The bedroom were well appointed and comfy, one double and one single and the bathroom was a good typical bathroom although no natural light.

I can really recommend that local pub - literally over the road The King William, I had the best burger I have ever eaten out there, my mum had very good muscles. Friendly and helpful staff and as I say wonderful food! Would have gone back if we could! Desert of brown bread ice cream was very tasty and well done. It?s a small place with typical pub decor and you will need to book but well worth giving a go.

There are takeaways and cafes around the flat- standard ?chain? ones and other smaller ones if you needed that kind of thing as well as the Morrison?s down the road although we never actually went there.

The parking is a walk away from the apartment - so its wise to bring all you need with you on one trip - and it is very steep ? so be warned but it was great having a car space in a city. We left our car there and used shanks most of the time unless we went further afield.

very much liked the way that we got in and out of the apartment ? not having to worry about keys although it is VITAL to remember your numbers! I hid them on my mobile phone and on a piece of paper! I must admit that the stairs are steep at the end of a long day but thats to be expected and is warned about and might be more to do with sore legs and feet after lots of shopping.

Overall we had a very lovely comfy stay and would very happily go back next time we visit Bath.

Star rating 5/5 Guest from north east england Date of stay September 2011

Stayed at this apartment with my sister and neice at the end of september. We located the apartment without any problems due to clear directions.

The use of the garage was fantastic, as I would have struggled to find a parking space in Bath. The apartment was fabulous, with all appropriate amenities.

Would definitely visit again.

Loved It.
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Lostwithiel, Cornwall Date of stay August 2011

I found the apartment to be of excellent standard inside, comfortable, well equipped, clean and well appointed. The listing description was accurate and we found the apartment with no problem. The location was within easy reach of Bath city centre. The owner was easy to contact and replied to our questions before our arrival. We didn't need to contact him again as everything was as described.

We didn't use the garage/parking so have no comment about this. The apartment is 2 flights up which wasn't a problem for us. We will very likely use this apartment again and I would recommend it to a friend.

A very good find!
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Unknown Date of stay August 2011

This very clean and well kept, very well equipped apartment in a central location was perfect for our family as we wanted to spend some time visiting Bath and its region. The town centre is very close, easily reachable on foot within 10 minutes, it is close to the shops, restaurants, baths, theater, etc.

We had everything we wanted in the apartment so we felt completely at home and would definitely recommend this place which represents very good value for money. Having a garage in Bath is a must as it is so hard to find a parking space, that was an added bonus.

great location and lovely apartment.
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Bedfordshire Date of stay May 2011

I stayed at the apartment for a midweek break with my mum and sister, the apartment was nicely presented and clean and had all the essentials, even a hairdryer! The King William over the road is really convenient and does great food and the Morrisons cafe up the road was great for breakfast. The apartment is an easy walk into town even for a pregnant woman and a senior citizen and in easy reach of attractions including the Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and the thermal spa which is definately worth a visit!

fantastic

we were there in the coldest part of the year when everything was freezing. the flat was a little haven of comfort in between venturing out into the elements.

we found the stairs fobidding but the flat made up for it, also a godsend to have somewhere to park the car! Bath os wonderful. we knew it would be, and the female members of the family got their shopping fix as well. a friendly service and a good holiday - we would happily do it again!

Easter 2011 @ Canton Place
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Derbyshire UK Date of stay April 2011

Flat in a very central location and it only took about 15 minutes to get into the centre of the city. Bath is beautiful. Having a garage was a big bonus.

We had lots of day trips to Weston Super Mare, Bristol, Cheddar, Wells and Lacock.

The flat is very nicely furnished and we enjoyed our stay very, very much!!

Thank you x

Nice, light, convenient

A very pleasant little place with lots of sunshine, good canal running and Bath sightseeing nearby. Great week.

Relaxed week in ideal surroundings!
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Norwich Date of stay February 2011

I would recommend this property to anyone who is able to walk upstairs without difficulty. Well positioned for city walks as well as local shops and hostelries.

One big plus is that the desciption given on the website is entirely accurate, nice comfortable bedrooms, nice bright well laid out lounge and excellent kitchen made for a relaxed week.

Additionally in a busy area with parking restrictions, the nearby garage provided at no extra cost is a big plus. Having only visited Bath previously for day trips and weekends I found it to be bustling and interesting, with enough to do for the active person for a week long stay, night time activity caused no problem as we always felt safe whilst walking around.

Although having a reputation as expensive we didn't find Bath to be that bad, possibly because the large student population creates competition amongst the hostelries.

The tourist attractions such as the Thermae and the old baths are unique, although the bus tours and ghost walk type of trips appear to struggle for enough history to bulk the trips out (as a Norfolk person, hearing Nelson being called a son of Bath because he stayed there for a few months was a red rag to a bull) and we got as much pleasure walking along the nearby Kennet and Avon canal and the River Avon, there is also a hassle free cycle path taking you right into Bristol City Centre 13 miles away, which is an ideal day trip activity. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this apartment and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Great for a short break
Star rating 4/5 Guest from London Date of stay January 2011

Our party of three stayed here for a long weekend in January. We found the flat spotlessly clean and very well-equipped. The stairs are a little daunting, so keep luggage to a minimum (our mistake!) but overall we felt that the price was reflective of this as it is excellent value for money in such an expensive city. The flat is a perfect base for exploring as you are walking distance to all major attractions, but being out of the centre means you experience a more local vibe as well. All ammenities are nearby and the town centre is about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. Those who don't live in a city may find the road noise a little loud, but we didn't find it a problem.

While in Bath, we enjoyed a fantastic lunch at the Pump Rooms - the service was excellent and the surroundings beautiful. The Roman Baths are fascinating if you have time to explore. We also enjoyed Nineteenth House on St. James Parade - again, great service and a warm welcome. If you're visiting in cold weather, don't miss out on hot chocolate at the downstairs Strudel Bar at Hansel und Gretel at Margaret's Buildings. They have limited opening hours so don't leave it too late!

Overall a great visit to Bath - we would definitely use the flat again.

Bath Stay
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Sydney, Australia Date of stay September 2010

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised to find such a lovely and elegantly furnished apartment with a garage right in Bath. The apartment had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. It was well situated- a short walk to a large grocery shop for self catering and an easy 10 minute walk to the town centre. We would recommend the Baths and the bus and walking tour of Bath. We spent a very pleasant afternoon at Prior park which had excellent views of Bath.

The only drawback for the young and less mobile is the fact that there are at least two flights of stairs leading up to the apartment.

I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Cosy apartment close to Bath city centre
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Berlin Date of stay September 2010

After quite a confusion in the beginning when we couldn't find the place and the key drop at all, we spent a wonderful week in Bath thanks to this very cosy apartment in Canton Place, London Road. All rooms were appropriately spacious, bright and very well equipped. We didn't miss anything. Also its location is totally convenient, 10 to 15minutes walk to Bath Abbey, about the same to George street, and approximately 20 minutes walk to Bath Spa train station and main bus station, but all in walking distance. Bath isn't that big at all and still very lovely! Thaks to frequent bus and train services its well linked to bigger cities such as Bristol and London for instance and other places of interest in the closer vicinity and further away. I would for sure recommend a stay in Bath in general as well as in Canton Place Apartment!!

A wonderful one months stay. Review in Spanish
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Granada Date of stay August 2010

Perfect for our short break
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Preston Date of stay August 2010

The flat was clean and very well presented and having the single room with three of us suited our needs for the two day stay. We were out sightseeing all day and coming back to such a comfortable accomodation was so relaxing. I shall certainly keep the address for future occasions.

great city stay

Small but nicely decorated apartment in traditional Bath style with great views from the dining table. Everything you need for a self catered stay supplied and all in great condition.

Small but nicely decorated apartment in traditional Bath style with great views from the dining table. Everything you need for a self catered stay supplied and all in great condition.

Bit of noise from the main road but good because shops are close by and easy to walk everywhere. Not so easy up and down the stairs with a small baby and garage was really useful but is a few minutes walk away, up a hill so again, fine for adults, bit harder to juggle with babies or limited mobility. Would be useful to have more restaurant and take-away recommendations.

overall, a nice, quite central place to stay and easy booking facility.

Cosy apartment with good views
Star rating 4/5 Guest from Coventry Date of stay July 2010

Don't be fooled by the exterior and hallway of this property, it looks a little shabby at present as I believe some maintenance work is being carried out at the property, however, once inside, this apartment is a little gem! It is cosy and comfortable with one double bedroom and one single bedroom. It has a spacious lounge/ dining area with a large leather sofa and a very well equipped kitchen. The apartment is clean, tidy, up to date and well maintained. The beds are very comfortable with luxurious bedding and a good nights sleep was had by both of us.

The owner was very helpful in providing good directions & helpful information.

Whilst in Bath I would definitely recommend visiting the Thermae bath spa, we went on the twilight package which was a very relaxing experience and excellent value for money. I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives, the only criticism I would make is that it was more of a 10-15 minute walk into town rather than 5 minutes as stated, but then maybe I just walk at a snails pace!!!!

Beautiful, stylish flat in a good location
Star rating 4/5 Guest from Wellington, New Zealand Date of stay June 2010

My husband and I stayed in this apartment for a week in June 2010. We found it to be a lovely, stylishly decorated, clean and expansive apartment with gorgeous views from the dining area windows. It was modern and yet you could also imagine the Bath of old when looking out the windows at the view. It was also an excellent place to watch NZ beat Italy in the World Cup! The bed in the master bedroom was big and comfy and the shower was fantastic, although with the glass screen designed to keep splashes contained, it was impossible to reach the taps without getting drenched by the cold water as it came on, which was a bit unpleasant. Access to a garage up the road was fantastic as we had a rental car; the apartment is on quite a busy road that can be a bit noisy and hard to cross to get to the garage but is great if you are doing trips out of town as it gets you directly onto the main roads to the North and East, and it was also only about a 15 minute walk into Bath's centre. The apartment had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning, with modern appliances and a good functional kitchen with all the crockery and utensils you'd expect. The only negative was no proper freezer; the kitchen only has a small bar-type fridge with an ice box. As it has only 2 bedrooms, one king and one single bed, it would be suitable for small families or couples, so I'd caveat my recommendations below by saying families with "child" and "teenager" in the singular. The staircase makes it unsuitable for people with limited mobility and I don't think it would be pet friendly. It is in walking distance to the city centre so a car is not necessarily needed and it is a cheaper option than staying in the centre of Bath (which we have done on previous visits). Because it's self-catering you can also save money by not having to eat out for every meal. There's an interesting deli just downstairs and a pub across the road! All in all we found this apartment to be very comfortable, well-located and a pleasant stay, and would recommend it to other travellers.

Nice place - I'd recommend it
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Vancouver, Canada Date of stay June 2010

My wife, our 10 year old, and I stayed hear in June 2010. Walking up the 2 flights of stairs (people with limited mobility should be aware that there is no elevator) we were uncertain of what to expect, but once inside we were very pleased. The apartment has been completely renovated in a very nice way. Clean and comfortable. The rental process was easy and quick. There is a good grocery store 3 minutes walk away and the kitchen had the pots and pans we needed. A short walk (10 - 15 min) to all the sights in Bath. No need for a car. Trains run regularly from London and other parts of England.

The only minor cons: The wireless internet connection kept cutting out on my laptop. I should have brought an ethernet cable, just in case. The bedroom faces a busy street so there is some traffic noise, but not bad. I barely heard the neighbors. Overall this is a good value and we were quite happy with it. I'd recommend it.

Great place to stay!
Star rating 5/5 Guest from Florida, USA Date of stay September 2011

Canton Place Apartment is an ideal place, very close to city center. Having Morrison's, the grocery store, within a short walking distance made the trip that much more enjoyable.

Comfortable beds and terrific view.
